Your data

This page covers getting a copy of your data, deleting your account, and the records Nectvia may have published to your AT Protocol account.

How Nectvia uses your data

Nectvia never sells user data or licenses it to anyone, and does not use it for ad targeting. Nectvia runs no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. The privacy policy has the full details.

Download a copy

In Settings > Your data, choose Request a copy of my data. The copy contains everything Nectvia holds about you, including your profile, work history, education, posts, articles, comments, connections and messages.

The copy is a ZIP file of CSV and JSON files, with a plain-text file that explains what each part contains and which parts include information about other people. Nectvia prepares it in the background. When it is ready, Nectvia emails you a link, and the settings page shows Download my data. The download works only when you are signed in to your own account.

A copy can be downloaded for 72 hours after it is ready. After that it is deleted, so that a copy of your data does not stay on Nectvia's servers. You can request a new copy at any time.

Delete your account

In Settings > Your data, under Danger zone, choose Permanently delete my account.

Deleting your account permanently removes it and everything you created on Nectvia, including posts, comments, connections and job applications. This cannot be undone.

Nectvia asks you to confirm that it is you:

  • If your account has a password, enter your current password.
  • If you sign in only with an AT Protocol account, such as Bluesky, choose Sign in again to confirm and sign in at your account host. You then have 5 minutes to delete the account.

To keep a copy of your data, request it before you delete the account.

Records in your AT Protocol account

Data you chose to publish to a linked AT Protocol account is stored at your account host, the service that keeps that account, such as Bluesky. It is not on Nectvia's servers. See AT Protocol and Bluesky.

Records in your AT Protocol account belong to that account. They stay there:

  • when you choose Stop syncing, which only stops future publishing;
  • when you choose Unlink account, which removes the link but leaves the records unchanged;
  • when you delete your Nectvia account. Deleting your account does not delete records already published to your AT Protocol account.

A separate action, Delete my published records, is planned. It is marked "coming soon" on the publishing settings page and is not available yet.

Because the records stay in your account, you can bring them back. After you link the account again, Import my data on the publishing settings page reads your profile, positions, education, skills, endorsements, recommendations and articles from it and restores them into Nectvia. It only reads; it never writes to or deletes anything in your account.

Data Nectvia never publishes

Some data has no way to reach your AT Protocol account at all. Direct messages, message requests, connection requests and job applications are never published. Neither is anything set to Connections only or Only me. See Publishing to your AT Protocol account.

Your rights

You can see most of your data in the app, correct it by editing your profile and content, take a copy from your settings, and delete it by deleting your account. The privacy policy lists your rights and the contact address for questions about your data.
